Here comes December!

Can you believe that December 1st is this Sunday?!  Crazy!

Another year is almost coming to a close...that means I'll be scratching out 2013 and correcting it with 2014....over and over...very soon!  Tomorrow is Thanksgiving for our neighbours.  So, it has me feeling Thankful for all of my blessings in life :)

Christmas tree is up...is there anything prettier than a light tree in the evening...the way it glows...just so nice!  I can't wait to fill it with gifts for my family and my little man.

Christmas orders are in full effect!!!  Get yours in soon!

Fa la la la la....la la....la...la!

Wow, November already...time is moving at warp speed for me these days.  It's always so bizarre when Christmas orders start rolling in or when you're in the grocery store and you buy something that has an expiration date of December 23rd 2013...and you think 'we are REALLY getting close to Christmas!'

So after Monday, November 11th - Remembrance Day - I will begin to Ho ho ho the house up!

I am taking on a fun craft on November 30th with many...MANY kids...and the average age is probably 3.5 yrs - to decorate gingerbread houses!!!  It should be messy and the kids no doubt be full of sugar "one for the house and one for me!" but definitely a fantastic and fun way to spend an afternoon. Really looking forward to that!

This week it's over 100 mini wedding cake favors and a 3 Tier Wedding cake for Carol & Matt's Casa Loma reception....so it's time to get busy!!!

Thursday 17 October 2013

Okay...so almost weekly...

My last entry was on the 3rd and today is the 17th.....so it's been two weeks.  Not too shabby considering my goal was once per week.  It's a DRASTIC improvement from the time lapse from the entry before right?!  Definite YES!

So, Carlos would be proud!  Carlos is my webpage designer and all things that are keeping me organized and set up via my webpage...anyway he said I should blog...so Shout out to Carlos!  I'm blogging :)

Busy couple of weeks I've had....a Hollywood inspired wedding cake...a simple and romantic buttercream wedding cake...a fun San Francisco travel themed wedding cake and last but not least a chic and modern silver/charcoal grey elegant wedding cake as well.  I absolutely LOVE working on wedding cakes but I am pleased to have a slow week this week to get outdoors and enjoy some of this weather and scenery before it disappears.

Is it just me or has everyone overdosed on pumpkin pie!  Good Lord I love it but man....5 slices in and I'm an addict looking for salvation....SAVE ME FROM ALL THE NUTMEGGY GOODNESS.  Ugh, and I'm a whipped cream pile-r....the higher the mound the better....or so we think at first!  Anyway, I've had enough pumpkin pie to take me until October 2014....I say that now and I know I'll be eating it again at Christmas!

CHRISTMAS!  It's coming up fast and will be here before you know it - 10 WEEKS in fact!  10....that's like 70 days!  My math skills are so sharp....hahaha.

Anyway, don't save your Christmas cake orders until the last minute like your shopping!!!

Thursday 3 October 2013

Wait a second...it's October 2013?!

So, you can imagine my horror and surprise when I looked at the date of my last blog......February 2012 (it's small print because I'm feeling embarrassed).

To be honest...life and business have been busy & booming!

My son is now 19 months....which means the terrible 2's on are the horizon.  Let's just say he's a busy fellow!  He keeps me running all day...it can be exhausting but truthfully once he's in bed - I find that miss him so much and can't wait until morning.  Well, I can wait a nice solid 8 hours *fingers crossed*

Business has been great....I can't complain!  Word of mouth has been terribly kind and I'm always so honoured when a past client goes out of their way to mention my name to a future bride.  I actually had a client once (Emily) tell a stranger that she was seated next to at a baseball game that she should call me for her wedding cake.  Hearing that makes me smile....because I know I've done good!

Well, I am going to promise to write at least weekly!  I wish I could remember every single day like I do my son's vitamins.

Off to sleep I go - so that I'm fresh faced with a spring in my Fall step to work on Tania & Vince's Wedding Cake and Glynis & Brad's Wedding Cake/Dessert for their guests.

Talk soon...promise!

Wednesday 1 February 2012

2011 was a busy one!!!

I can't believe today is February 1st of 2012.  Where is the time going?!?!  Tomorrow people will be looking to a groundhog to make weather predictions...how did this even get started?  Funny!

2011 was a fantastic year - weddings galore!  It was so much fun to produce wedding cakes in all sorts of vibrant colours and themes...it's so great to watch a simple vision flourish and see the amazing end result.

Anyhoo...to update everyone - exciting news!!!  I'm 8 months pregnant and giving birth to a bouncing baby boy very soon!  I will be taking 3 months off to enjoy motherhood and to hopefully find a nice routine...to which I will then return to work to only be taking on a VERY limited amount of orders - as you can imagine I want to enjoy my time with the baby and not be working like the 'Cake Boss' around the clock.

I know this will be one amazing and exciting year ahead...no need to speak to the groundhog ;)

Wedding Cake time!

Since my last blog in early May...there's been Kristine and Rajit's Wedding, Leah and Troy, Fay and Prashant, Anjali and Matt, Amanda and Gui and last but not least Naomi and Gary's!!!  A huge congratulations to all of you.  I hope you all were able to enjoy a piece of your wedding cake :)

Monday 2 May 2011

busy week with tons of fun variety

It's May - finally!  All the April showers better bring some May flowers!

I have a fun filled week full of interesting orders everything from Cupcakes with business logos, Cake Pops (the new trend has suckered me in - get it 'sucker' and 'cake pops' - and this is why I'm not a comedian but a Pastry Chef instead!), two Wedding Cakes: a super contemporary three tier square wedding cake design and a five tier round wedding cake done in shades of lilac and lavender, Mother's Day cakes and last but definitely not least an Elmo birthday cake for a little boy turning 2!

Let the week begin!
